I’ve taken some time away from writing and making videos on the topic of miscarriage and stillbirth for the better part of this year. We experienced our second miscarriage in December of 2020, but I didn’t go through the physical miscarriage until January. Although in theory this should have been a realitively safe process compared to the stillbirth of our daughter in 2020, I came as close to death as I ever have before due to so much blood loss and needing an emergency dilation and curettage (D&C). As you might imagine, without a blood transfusion, it has taken longer for me to bounce back physically. I really felt that I needed to take the time to give God the space he needed to heal me from losing our son while simultaneously passing the annual milestones and memories of losing our daughter in March of 2020.
It was a rough experience to say the least and I’m thankful to share that we’re actually doing better than we ever have at this point in our lives. We’re thankful to have been placed in family with our friends, family, and church, without which we would have surely drowned in the swamps of sadness.
After a much needed break it feels like it’s time to start writing and making videos on miscarriage again. In addition to the short one or three minute videos on Tik Tok, I’m going to be making YouTube videos regarding miscarriage and stillbirth, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and other fun hobbies and projects we have going on here in the Ball home. I’ve been healed from endometriosis and I want to help others on their journey to healing not only by sharing the resources I found along the way but by sharing how God stretched my faith and taught me how to have Chronic Hope through it all.
I would like to share a Special Announcement for the Month of October:
As you may or may not be aware, pregnancy and infant loss awareness month is coming up in October. Each day in the month of October I will be sharing one spiritual lie and one truth a lot of us struggle with regarding miscarriage or still birth on tik tok. I’ll be sharing a weekly blog post here summing up the weekly videos as well as sharing a weekly YouTube video that goes into all the details that the shorter minute videos can’t cover.
If you’ve ever experienced this type of loss, either recently or many years ago, you know the grieving process can be incredibly difficult and complex. Although there is still so much that is not generally known about grief after a late or early miscarriage in the Christian community (as well as our society in general), my hope is to create a safe place for women to openly share about their faith within these experiences. As someone who has experienced a late term miscarriage and stillbirth due to incompetent cervix and an early miscarriage due to unknown causes, I want to help others who may be struggling with their faith after loss. I certainly don’t have all the answers and honestly, I’m hoping that having an open dialogue about this stuff will help others feel safe to start sharing about their experiences too.
Often, pregnancy loss challenges our core beliefs; who we believe God is, the validity of his word, and what he’s working out in our lives. I’m thankful we serve a God who still speaks and wants us to come to him with everything we’re going through at every moment in our lives.
Follow me here for weekly blog posts summing up the week of daily spiritual lies and truths regarding pregnancy loss. I’ll be providing my links for weekly YouTube videos and daily Tiktoks as well. If you already follow me on Instagram or Facebook I’ll also be sharing this information on those platforms too. If you’re in the midst of a recent loss or are pregnant after pregnancy loss and feel too sensitive to this content right now, you can always come back to read or watch the videos when you’re in a better place. These posts and videos will always be available so go at your own pace and always take care of yourself first.
Although I am currently highlighting October’s pregnancy and infant loss awareness month, I will continue to cover topics on my healing journey with God and resources with endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, and pelvic floor dysfunction. I will also be sharing all the fun projects we have going on here in the Ball home.
God has generously given me Chronic Hope through all of this and I hope I can help others learn how to continually have hope regardless of circumstances in every season.
